Israeli UTM company High Lander has launched a new Common Information Service platform, Vega CIS, aimed at improving coordination between UAS operators and airspace authorities. The system is designed to support real-time sharing of flight information, airspace restrictions, and geospatial data across different user groups.
The launch comes amid growing interest in non-kinetic technologies that support counter-UAS operations through improved airspace visibility. One of the persistent challenges in responding to drone threats is the lack of a unified picture of what activity is permitted in a given airspace at any moment. Vega CIS attempts to address this by offering a shared data environment for all parties operating within a U-space airspace model.
In a statement announcing the system, High Lander said:
“Vega CIS provides a solution for airspace managers to share constraints, geospatial awareness, and flight information with operators within a shared U-space airspace.”
The system allows for real-time updates to be shared with authorized UAS operators, including temporary no-fly zones and changes to airspace conditions. This could prove useful in fast-moving situations, such as when a drone incursion is detected and airspace needs to be rapidly cleared to enable a response.
Although Vega CIS is not a detection or mitigation system in itself, its role in airspace coordination may complement tactical counter-UAS operations by helping distinguish between cooperative and uncooperative drones. In congested urban or event-driven environments, that distinction is often critical.
The platform is also intended to align with European U-space regulatory frameworks, where Common Information Services are considered essential for safe integration of drones at scale.
High Lander is presenting Vega CIS at Airspace World in Lisbon, where the focus is expected to include both civilian and security-sector applications. As counter-UAS efforts increasingly rely on layered systems that combine kinetic, electronic, and procedural tools, platforms like Vega CIS may serve as a foundational layer for coordinated decision-making.
