The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is comprised of sub-components, the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) and Air and Marine Operations (AMO), which work to prevent illegal immigration and the trafficking of contraband by air, land, and sea into the United States. The USBP focuses on enforcing the law along the U.S. border and between official ports of entry. As the nation’s primary border agency, the USBP plays a critical role in safeguarding the American people and national economy, serving as the initial line of defense for U.S. borders. One of its key strategic objectives is to establish and maintain effective control over the air, land, and maritime borders, leveraging infrastructure, technology, and personnel as appropriate. Meanwhile, the AMO deploys aircraft and maritime vessels to air and marine branches and units throughout the country, providing swift air and marine response capabilities. It intercepts illegal individuals and cargo approaching U.S. borders, investigates criminal networks, and enhances awareness of the air and maritime environments.
The USBP and AMO are seeking information on solution concepts and related technologies that can be utilized to combat the risks posed by Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones. This includes the capacity to identify, track, classify, detect, and/or mitigate these potential threats. CBP is looking for comprehensive solutions that can address the specific use cases that will be provided in Part 2.
