PDW recently announced a collaboration with Doodle Labs, unveiling their latest partnership to integrate Doodle Labs’ cutting-edge Helix Mesh Rider Radio into PDW’s highly acclaimed C100 sUAS platform for enhanced datalink for command and control (C2). This strategic alliance marks a significant milestone for PDW as it bolsters the capabilities and functionality of their flagship C100 sUAS, enabling seamless operations in EW-Contested environments and near-peer theaters. The integration of this advanced technology promises to deliver enhanced performance and expanded possibilities for PDW’s C100 sUAS.

PDW’s Flagship C100 Platform

PDW’s C100 platform is a top-tier sUAS designed for the Department of Defense, delivering features that were previously exclusive to larger fixed-wing assets, but now, a single soldier can launch them organically. The C100’s development focused on a modular open architecture, ensuring easy and seamless integration of new hardware and capabilities. The platform offers an extensive range of advanced mission capabilities such as targeting and identification, signals intelligence, direct effects, and payload/supply delivery. Additionally, the C100’s compact design allows it to fit into a rucksack and supports numerous integrations with leading sensors, payloads, and emerging technologies.

Doodle Labs, an industry leader in advanced data-link development, is providing its Helix Mesh Rider Radio for the PDW C100 platform. “Doodle Labs has developed a next-generation wireless system that is reliable, robust, and easy to integrate. With long-range, high-bandwidth data links and advanced features like dynamic frequency changing and multi hop relay, Doodle Labs’ wireless system ensures reliable connectivity for operations in even the most challenging and contested environments” said Ryan Gury, CEO of PDW.

Doodle Labs Helix Mesh Rider Radio

Doodle Labs’ Helix Mesh Rider Radio was developed with sponsorship from the US Department of Defense’s Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and is fully compliant with DIU’s Blue UAS program. Leveraging Doodle Labs’ proprietary multi-band technology, the Helix Mesh Rider Radio effectively covers a broad range of licensed radio frequencies, widely utilized by various groups within the US DoD, all within a single radio unit, spanning from M1 to M6. The radio’s mini-OEM form factor exhibits remarkable characteristics in terms of size, weight, and power (SWaP), making it highly suitable for tactical military missions. Additionally, the radio proudly boasts FIPS 140-3-certified encryption, an essential feature for ensuring the security and integrity of critical communications in the field.

“PDW is engineering some of the most versatile tactical UAS platforms on the market, so we knew our datalink component needed to be up to the many challenges end-users are bound to put the C100 through,” said Ashish Parikh, VP Business Development for Doodle Labs. “When we say our Helix Mesh Rider Radio is ‘built for global deployment,’ the missions in which the C100 is perfectly suited to excel are exactly what we have in mind. This platform can do it all.”
