Elbit Systems debuted a new Electronic Warfare (EW) capability at the Paris Airshow earlier this summer, part of its Unified EW suite. This capability, enabled by digital Radar Warning Receivers (RWR), empowers drone detection and identification and locates Personal Location Beacons (PLB) of ground forces and pilots.
Elbit’s extensive EW suite, operational on numerous aircraft, consists of various components, such as the EW Controller, Digital Radar Warning Receiver, IR Missile Warning System (MWS), Laser Warning Systems (LWS), Counter Measure Dispenser System (CMDS), DIRCM, and Electronic Counter Measure Jammer. These systems work individually or together, ensuring optimal platform protection and aircrew survivability against advanced threats.
The new Radar Warning Receiver capability efficiently identifies and classifies drones as potential threats, addressing the escalating dangers faced by commercial and military aircraft. Enhanced processing capabilities are integrated into the Radar Warning Receiver digital receivers, enabling drone detection while still functioning as a Radar Warning Receiver sensor, significantly benefiting helicopters and transport aircraft missions.
Furthermore, the Radar Warning Receivers can be configured with an additional feature: detecting and geo-locating Personal Location Beacons of ground forces or pilots on the ground. This valuable capability allows any platform equipped with a Radar Warning Receiver to perform this task, effectively saving time and resources in search and rescue (SAR) missions.
Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW: “We are proud to enable our customers high-end protection capabilities to ensure their platform survivability and aircrew safety. We will continue to invest significant R&D efforts to supply the most advanced, cutting edge and cost-effective solutions guaranteeing comprehensive protection and mission success.”
