Hidden Level, Inc. has announced AFWERX has selected it for a Phase 1 STTR contract. This contract aims to explore the fusion of airspace sensors with open-source intelligence (OSINT) to address existing capability gaps within the Department of the Air Force (DAF). Working with The University at Albany OSI lab, Hidden Level will embark on a thorough and concentrated 3-month feasibility study. This study will strategically combine and layer OSINT alongside persistent surveillance sensor data, including the innovative Hidden Level AMS technology. The primary objective is to enhance situational awareness, minimize risks, and detect potential threats associated with small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) incidents.

The Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process by accelerating the small business experience through a faster proposal to award timelines, changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities to small business and losing bureaucratic overhead by continually implementing process improvement changes in contract execution. The DAF began offering ‘The Open Topic’ SBIR/STTR program in 2018, expanding the range of innovations the DAF funded. Now Hidden Level will start its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America.

Hidden Level recently announced that it had received $10 million in funding from the Department of Defense (DOD) for the pilot program, Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovating Technologies (APFIT). Hidden Level is one of only eleven companies awarded funding by the DoD in 2023 for that program.

Founded in 2018, Hidden Level is led by a team of skilled sensor experts with more than a decade of experience building innovative sensor solutions for both military and commercial customers. Hidden Level’s airspace monitoring service delivers the only industry solution that provides secure, accurate low-altitude airspace monitoring at scale.
