Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence has revealed its plans to acquire two medium-range NASAMS missile launchers, which will be donated to Ukraine. The contract for this acquisition was signed between the country’s Defence Material Agency and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, marking a significant step in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. This donation highlights Lithuania’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and promoting regional security. The NASAMS missile launchers are expected to contribute to Ukraine’s defense system and enhance its ability to address security challenges effectively.
“Upgraded NASAMS missile launch systems are being purchased, which will be fully prepared so that the Ukrainian Army can integrate them into existing fire control units, thereby supplementing and expanding the operational capacity of the Norwegian and US-donated NASAMS systems currently in use in Ukraine,” said Arvydas Anušauskas, Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence, in a statement.
The Norwegian Ministry of Defence will make additional contributions by donating NASAMS system support equipment.
The NASAMS Air Defence Systems are already in use by the Lithuanian Army.
