The United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week (CT Week) is being held June 19-23. The event is a biennial gathering of Member States and international counter-terrorism partners. The Third CT Week is at the UN Headquarters in New York. CT Week includes several events, including:
- The Third United Nations High-level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States was held on Monday and Tuesday (19-20 June) on the overarching theme of “Addressing Terrorism through Reinvigorated Multilateralism and Institutional Cooperation”.
- The Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly to adopt the eighth biennial review resolution of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy will be held on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 June.
- There are 40 side events jointly organized by Member States, United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Compact entities, intergovernmental organizations, civil society organizations, academia and the private sector between Monday 19 and Friday 23 June.
One of the 40 side events on UN Web TV is “Preventing and Countering Terrorist Use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems: Good Practices and Trends in the Acquisition, Weaponization, and Deployment of UAS.” The event, being held on 21 June, is co-organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Conflict Armament Research (CAR).
