The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded an Other Transaction Agreement to Rafael Systems Global Sustainment, LLC (RSGS), a subsidiary of Rafael, to evaluate the effectiveness of Rafael’s DRONE DOME. The DRONE DOME is a C-UAS system that is designed to detect, neutralize, and intercept drones. The testing will be conducted at the Atlantic City International Airport (KACY).

The evaluation process will involve comprehensive research, testing, and evaluations to ensure that the DRONE DOME system is effectively deployed to address UAS threats and interference at KACY. The primary objective of this research effort is to ensure that the technologies and systems developed, tested, or deployed by federal departments and agencies for mitigating potential risks posed by hostile or errant UAS operations do not interfere with safe airport operations, navigation, air traffic services, or the overall safety and efficiency of the National Airspace System. The initial testing phase will take place over several months at KACY, followed by performance validation at other airports in the United States.

In April 2022, a series of demonstrations of the DRONE DOME system were completed at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona. Following these successful demonstrations, in November 2022, the DRONE DOME system was named and recommended for C-sUAS as a Service (CaaS) by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office (JCO). This recognition marks a significant milestone for RAFAEL’s DRONE DOME system, which is now eligible for use in various U.S. government applications.

DRONE DOME’s C-UAS capabilities were successfully demonstrated through accurate detection, identification, and soft-kill measures against a range of drone targets. As a result, it is now eligible to compete for future CaaS contract opportunities.

About DRONE DOME

DRONE DOME is a cutting-edge counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) that provides a comprehensive solution against hostile drones. The system is combat-proven and can rapidly provide all-weather, 360-degree defense against unwanted drone activity. With global deployment, DRONE DOME comprises electronic jammers, sensors, and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms to effectively secure threatened air space. Additionally, the system offers a modular, robust infrastructure for easy scalability and customization (Rafael).
