OpenWorks Engineering and Robin Radar Systems have collaborated to ensure the compatibility and optimal performance of their leading products, SkyTrack and IRIS®.

SkyTrack and IRIS® are already deployed in multi-sensor integrated CUAS systems worldwide. IRIS® provides long-range 3D radar detection and classification using advanced micro-doppler technology enhanced with AI. SkyTrack provides mid-range, fully autonomous optical classification and tracking; using embedded twin-AI with EO/IR sensors.

The trials conducted in the Netherlands demonstrate that connecting high-performance sensors can create a low false-alarm-rate system that requires minimal or no operator input. The system can be easily operated using the user interface (UI) provided with SkyTrack.

Bill Haraka, VP of Defence & Security at Robin, said, “It’s fantastic to bring together these well-matched AI-powered high-accuracy sensors. This integration shows how fast two-step drone classification can be, especially when using radar detection to close in optical tracking.”

OpenWorks provides a free software called LinkUI which connects IRIS® to SkyTrack, enabling seamless integration of the sensors. With minimal operator input, the sensors can be easily controlled and operated using the intuitive interface provided by LinkUI.

LinkUI provides a lightweight sensor combination for end users and customers that do not need the capability and scale of complete command-and-control systems offered by prime systems integrators.

James Cross, Director at OpenWorks, said, “The excellent collaboration between companies on this sensor integration will allow many government authorities and other end-users to access autonomous CUAS capability; without significant investment in multi-sensor system architectures and services.”

In the upcoming months, OpenWorks and Robin Radar Systems will further test the compatibility of their sensors against various targets and at longer ranges. They plan to demonstrate the system’s capabilities across Europe.
