The United States Marine Corps has recently released photos of its Long Range Unmanned Surface Vessel, or LRUSV. The vessel, developed by Louisiana-based shipbuilder Metal Shark, will usher in a new era of naval technology in the Department of Defense.
The LRUSV, an advanced semiautonomous vessel, possesses remarkable capabilities for extended travel and the transportation of loitering munitions. These munitions are adept at precisely tracking and neutralizing targets both at sea and on land. Primarily designed as an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance platform, the LRUSV offers enhanced capabilities in gathering critical information and monitoring various environments.
The LRUSV will be equipped with a UVision Air Ltd. Hero-120 Organic Precision Fires (OPF) smart loitering munition system. The Multi-Canister Launcher will be integrated into the LRUSV, providing the Marine Corps with ISR, highly accurate and precision indirect fire strike capabilities.
