EOS Defense Systems USA, Inc., the U.S. defense subsidiary of Electro Optic Systems (EOS), has been chosen to supply the EOS AS-65 gimbal, specifically designed for the R150 remote weapon system (RWS), as the positioning component for the L3Harris Vehicle Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment, known as VAMPIRE™. The VAMPIRE™ system represents a vehicle-agnostic, rapid weapon deployment solution that equips ground forces with the capability to swiftly and accurately engage targets.

Under a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense, L3Harris is set to deliver 14 VAMPIRE™ multi-purpose weapons systems, reinforcing Ukrainian security defense efforts. The system empowers Ukraine’s ground forces to effectively target and neutralize enemy drones while defending against adversarial ground threats.

L3Harris has chosen the EOS AS-65 gimbal, renowned for its lightweight and unparalleled precision, as the ideal component for their VAMPIRE™ system, ensuring unmatched accuracy and stabilization. The AS-65, the smallest gimbal in the EOS weapon system family, boasts the capability to precisely aim and fire rockets, missiles, and other payloads, providing ground-to-ground and ground-to-air delivery with exceptional speed and precision strike capacity.

In the VAMPIRE™ system, the EOS AS-65 is paired with the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) in a 4-pack launcher configuration, delivering long-range accuracy to neutralize Group 3 UAS threats across various speeds, ranges, and altitudes. The laser-guided rocket, with a 70mm diameter, efficiently tracks and eliminates targets using advanced seeker optics and four guidance wings deployed after firing.

EOS will manage integration and support operations for the VAMPIRE™ system at its U.S facility in Huntsville, Alabama, demonstrating its commitment to supporting L3Harris in this endeavor.

The EOS AS-65 gimbal joins over 40 EOS R400 remote weapon systems, integrated into Bushmaster armored vehicles, which were delivered to Ukraine as part of the Australian Government’s ongoing commitment to Ukraine’s defense.

With an increasing global demand for lightweight systems adaptable to various protected and utility vehicles, EOS officially opened a new production line for the R150 RWS in June, responding to the growing interest in these advanced technologies.

This year, EOS has witnessed a surge in global sales, securing significant contracts with Ukraine and a Western European government. These contracts, amounting to millions of dollars, reflect the confidence placed in EOS for delivering top-tier RWS units, spares, training, and associated services, leveraging their extensive support network and supply chain.
