Ukraine stellt Abfangdrohne zur Abwehr russischer Shahed- und Geran-Angriffe vor

Ukrainian engineers have developed a new interceptor drone designed to neutralize Russian Shahed and Geran attack drones, according to sources who spoke with Militarnyi.

In response to Russia’s ongoing drone assaults, Ukraine has introduced a specialized UAV capable of engaging airborne threats with speed and precision. The system is optimized for nighttime operations and rapid interception, allowing it to detect and destroy hostile drones before they reach critical infrastructure or civilian areas.

This innovation is part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to adapt its defense capabilities to evolving threats. The interceptor drone is specifically engineered to counter the tactics used by Shahed-136 drones, increasing the likelihood of successful engagement even under challenging conditions.

Developers are currently finalizing an autonomous homing system that will reduce reliance on personnel and fully automate the interception process.

Additionally, Ukrainian drone developers from the Wild Hornets (Dyki Shershni) military-tech group have eingeführt a new interceptor drone capable of reaching altitudes up to 11 kilometers (6.9 miles).

The announcement was made by the developers themselves via Telegram, accompanied by a video showcasing the drone’s high-altitude flight. According to open-source analyst @Osinttechnical, the test flight took place over the Kherson region, although the exact time and location have not been independently verified.

The drone’s specifications and design remain classified, and it has not yet been officially codified by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.

The Wild Hornets group has previously demonstrated innovation in drone warfare, including the combat use of drones equipped with grenade launchers. The company reports that verified data shows its drones have so far neutralized 1738 enemy assets valued at $1,69 billion.

Their latest interceptor drone is part of a broader effort to provide Ukrainian forces with accessible and effective tools to protect soldiers and cities from aerial threats.
