Recreational and professional drone pilots should understand the classes of airspace, UAS rules, and airspace requirements. This information not only keeps operations within applicable rules and regulations but also enhances the safety of the National Airspace System (NAS) and keeps drone pilots out of trouble.

Drone pilots aren’t the only professionals who should understand the airspace. When conducting homeland airspace awareness and protection (counter-UAS) missions in civilian airspace in the United States or other countries, understanding the classes of airspace, UAS rules, and airspace requirements are essential information elements. Knowing the airspace rules, for example, is an essential component of a UAS threat assessment.

You are in luck if you aren’t familiar with the rules or need a refresher. You can sign up for a webinar hosted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) this Wednesday. The FAA will provide tips on recognizing different types of airspace and discuss the regulations for legally operating drones within the NAS. They will guide participants through obtaining authorization to fly in restricted airspace and highlight the latest features in the FAA’s free B4UFly app.

The webinar will be held on Wednesday, April 24th, at 8:00 pm Eastern, 5:00 pm Pacific. For further details and registration information for this webinar, click here.
