On the night of November 5, beginning at 8 p.m. Kyiv time on November 4, Russia launched its latest aerial assault on multiple Ukrainian regions, the Ukrainian Air Force has reported. The attack involved two Kh-59/69 guided missiles fired from the Black Sea at Odesa and 79 Shahed and other unidentified drones launched from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk and Orel.
The Kharkiv region was also targeted with Russian guided aerial bombs. Ukraine’s air defences, comprising anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, electronic warfare units and mobile fire teams from the Air Force and Defence Forces, were called on to counter the attack.
As of 8:30 a.m. Kyiv time, Ukrainian forces confirmed the interception of two guided missiles and 48 attack drones across multiple regions, including Odesa, Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Khmelnytskyi. However, the locations of 30 Russian drones remain unaccounted for, with one drone reportedly returning to Russian territory.
In Kyiv, an air alert was declared around 6 a.m. as Russian drones threatened the capital. Earlier that night, another air raid alert was issued in response to ongoing aerial threats. Ukrainian air defence systems, particularly active in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, successfully intercepted several drones.
The Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to monitor and defend the skies over the Kyiv region, where multiple Shahed-type drones were reported. Regular attacks by Russian UAS continue to test Ukraine’s air defences in protecting civilian and strategic areas from aerial threats.
