The Oklahoma National Guard employed Aaronia’s AARTOS counter-drone system as the official “truth system” during Exercise Thunderstruck 2.0 at Camp Gruber Training Center earlier this month.
Thunderstruck 2.0, held September 14, was designed to expose Soldiers to contemporary UAS threats and test countermeasures. AARTOS, distributed in the U.S. by SYGN LLC, was used as the authoritative baseline for tracking and validating drone activity during the event.
In electronic warfare and counter-UAS training, a truth system provides a verified record of when and where drones are operating, ensuring evaluators can compare performance across different technologies and conduct accurate after-action reviews.
At Camp Gruber, AARTOS captured real-time activity across a wide radio frequency spectrum, confirming drone use by both friendly and opposing force elements.
While the system is capable of detection and defeat, its role during Thunderstruck 2.0 was limited to providing validated situational data for soldiers, evaluators and visiting leaders. According to the Guard’s contracted technical advisors, the deployment supported live oversight of drone activity and created an archive of spectral data for future capability development.
AARTOS is already in operational use with NATO, EU and U.S. partners. In Oklahoma, its employment as a truth system is expected to inform future National Guard training standards and procurement decisions in the counter-UAS domain.
