The Roadrunner-M, a high-explosive vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) interceptor, was introduced by Anduril last year. It has been engineered to quickly detect and neutralise larger UAS threats with exceptional speed and manoeuvrability, while maintaining cost efficiency. When paired with the Pulsar electronic warfare system, which is powered by artificial intelligence, the combination offers a significant upgrade to the U.S. military’s already comprehensive UAS defence capabilities.
Delivery of these systems is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024 and continue through 2025. The advanced capabilities will be deployed in key regions where U.S. forces face heightened UAS threats, enhancing air defence at the tactical level.
The Roadrunner system has already been operationally deployed for combat evaluation since January 2024, while the Pulsar system has been in use in various regions since August 2023. These technologies have been developed through Anduril’s internal research and development initiatives.
This latest contract adds to the nearly $350 million Anduril Industries has secured for its Roadrunner and Pulsar systems since their public launch. These contracts support a range of defence efforts, from system validation testing and operational deployments to experimentation and integration with existing defence systems, ensuring compatibility and effectiveness across U.S. military branches.
