At 12:30 A.M. on December 6, 2023, Washington County (GA) Deputies received notification of a drone drop at Washington State Prison in Davisboro, Georgia. Upon investigation, deputies identified a suspicious vehicle near Highway 231 and South Sparta Davisboro Road. A Washington County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle along South Sparta Davisboro Road.
The traffic stop uncovered evidence linked to the prison incident, and the Georgia Department of Corrections also located the contraband dropped at Washington State Prison earlier.
As a result of the traffic stop, Hikal Abdulrahman was arrested and faces charges including Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Items Prohibited by Inmates, and Crossing Guard Lines with Weapons or Drugs—all classified as felonies. Additionally, warrants have been issued for another individual identified during this investigation.
Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran commented on the incident, saying, “It’s essential that we remain vigilant and we encourage residents to report any suspicious activity in and around the prison grounds. Your cooperation is invaluable in helping us maintain a secure environment for everyone. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office fosters transparency and communication with our community. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation as we work together to uphold the principles of safety, justice, and integrity.”
This incident is the third successful apprehension of individuals associated with drone contraband drops at Washington State Prison. In November, two individuals were arrested after a high-speed chase after deputies were alerted of a drone drop at the prison. Similarly, in October, deputies were alerted to the location of a deserted vehicle and later conducted a traffic stop, leading to the arrest of two individuals.
