Rohde & Schwarz has successfully validated its new ARDRONIS Locate Compact system for deployment in counter unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) operations. This system, integrated using the newly established SAPIENT standard protocol, underwent testing at the NATO Technical Interoperability Exercise (TIE) event in Vredepeel, the Netherlands. The ARDRONIS Locate Compact system automatically detects and identifies drones by analyzing broadband video radio signals.
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) organized the C-UAS TIE 23 exercise, which brought together both civilian and military experts, along with more than 60 industry participants. The exercise aimed to assess the interoperability of various counter-drone technologies to ensure seamless communication and collaboration between different systems.
Rohde & Schwarz is fully committed to supporting NATO’s standardization system and complies with the SAPIENT protocol. The company is actively working on streamlining the integration of its system with larger systems. The SAPIENT protocol facilitates the conversion of data from sensors, effectors, and cyber sources into a common language, enabling information sharing across networks that support the Counter-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (CUAV) mission.
Anne Stephan, Vice President of Critical Infrastructure & Network, Rohde & Schwarz, said, “We are excited to launch the ARDRONIS Locate Compact in November. We are committed to advancing and testing the SAPIENT interface and supporting the standardization system of NATO. Our goal is to simplify the integration of our system into larger systems.”
The ARDRONIS Locate Compact by Rohde & Schwarz is an affordable solution tailored for overseeing extensive regions that demand a higher quantity of antennas and radio direction finders. This versatile system is well-suited for permanent setups in locations like airports, large industrial or military complexes. Additionally, it’s ideal for semi-portable configurations, designed for quick deployment and operation by a single individual, making it valuable for short-term area monitoring, such as safeguarding political VIPs during public events or securing military positions.
