SMARTSHOOTER has received an order for several hundred SMASH 3000 fire control systems from an undisclosed Asia-Pacific customer, with planned use in both counter-sUAS missions and precision ground engagements.
The deal follows what the company described as an extended evaluation and testing period by the customer. While SMARTSHOOTER did not disclose financial terms, delivery timelines or the purchasing nation, the order marks one of the larger publicly announced acquisitions of the SMASH 3000 in the region.
The SMASH 3000 is the lightest variant in SMARTSHOOTER’s line of handheld, weapon-mounted fire control systems. The technology uses onboard computing, computer vision and tracking algorithms to lock onto a target, maintain aim and automatically release a shot when optimal alignment is reached. The system is designed to improve hit probability against moving targets, including small drones, in both day and night conditions.
According to the company, the SMASH family of systems has been fielded by forces in the United States, Israel, Europe, the United Kingdom and other NATO members. It is offered in handheld, remotely operated and unmanned ground vehicle–mounted configurations, with the C-sUAS role being one of its key applications.
In recent years, several armed forces have adopted weapon-mounted fire control systems to address the growing threat from commercial off-the-shelf drones, particularly in environments where jamming or directed-energy countermeasures may not be feasible. Such systems offer a hard-kill option that can be used alongside detection and soft-kill capabilities.
SMARTSHOOTER did not specify when deliveries to the Asia-Pacific customer would begin, but said it expects the order to support “evolving operational needs” in the region. The company also suggested the deal could lead to additional purchases in the future.
