Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly called drones, have witnessed a substantial increase in their application across civilian and military domains due to their versatility and cost-effectiveness. Nevertheless, this technology’s irresponsible use or malicious operation poses potential risks to public safety and individual privacy. Counter-drone systems have been developed in response to this threat, encompassing technologies for detecting, positioning, and neutralizing these UAVs. This paper reviews various commercial counter-drone systems, exploring the technologies behind detection, tracking, and classification and the soft and hard kill mitigation strategies.
