Draganfly announces AI-powered APEX smart drone

Drone developer Draganfly has introduced the APEX Drone, a new UAS designed specifically to meet the operational needs of military and law enforcement agencies. The APEX drone, developed with input from defence and security sectors, aims to provide a compact and highly transportable, AI -powered solution for surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

Building on the success of Draganfly’s Commander 3XL, the APEX is designed for modularity and portability, making it adaptable for various mission-critical applications.

With up to 45 minutes of flight time and a 5-pound payload capacity, the drone offers flexibility in operations, from surveillance to tactical missions. Its quick-release payload system allows for easy adaptation to changing mission requirements, providing a versatile tool for military and law enforcement personnel.

Equipped with Nvidia onboard computing and interference-resistant communications technology, the APEX drone can handle complex tasks such as real-time data processing and AI-based analytics, which are essential for effective decision-making in the field. This makes it an ideal platform for dynamic environments where continuous control and reliable communication are critical.

The APEX is designed to enhance operational effectiveness and is a reflection of the advancements in drone technology which create increasing challenges for C-UAS systems. With enhanced onboard computing, greater modularity and advanced communication technologies, drones like the APEX may become more difficult to detect, intercept or disable, particularly in environments with RF  interference or complex airspace scenarios.
