Last week, an accident in New Hampshire severely injured a woman operating a Kawasaki ZR900 motorcycle that collided with a Ford F-250 truck. The accident prompted responses from fire, EMS, local police, and state police. This story was first reported by Patch.
Due to the serious injuries of the motorcycle operator, a Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team (DHART) helicopter was requested to transport her to the Elliot Hospital Trauma Center. The Greenville and Mason Fire Departments set up a landing zone at a nearby high school.
After loading the patient onto the helicopter and before take-off, the helicopter crew and ground personnel observed a drone flying over the designated landing zone. As a result, the decision was made to cancel the take-off. The pilot communicated that he wouldn’t proceed with take-off until the drone had been safely removed from the vicinity. Approximately 10 to 15 minutes later, the drone’s operator successfully landed the drone.
No information was available regarding any criminal charges from the incident or whether the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the matter further.
