DroneShield has announced the establishment of a new local partnership in Ukraine to expand support for its counter-UAS customers. The company did not disclose details of the partner, citing operational security.
DroneShield has supplied systems to Ukraine since the start of the conflict with Russia, with its equipment used to defend military, civilian and infrastructure targets against drone threats. The firm said feedback from Ukrainian operations has informed updates to its artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities, allowing for faster and more adaptive detection and mitigation.
Chief Executive Officer Oleg Vornik said the conflict has reinforced the importance of advanced counter-drone capabilities and described Ukraine as a proving ground for technology development:
“The conflict in Ukraine has crystallised what forward-looking militaries already recognised: the need for advanced, adaptive counter-drone solutions is now a matter of national resilience, not optional investment,” said Vornik. “Our work in Ukraine, while only one element of our global operations, has proven pivotal in advancing the sophistication of our AI, with profound benefits for all our users worldwide.”
Under the new arrangement, DroneShield said its Ukrainian customers would benefit from closer local support, quicker updates and intelligence sharing with headquarters.
The company emphasized that while Ukraine has played a role in advancing its technology, the country represents only a small portion of its business. DroneShield operates in more than 40 countries and reports demand for counter-drone systems continues to grow in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
