DroneShield has introduced a new counter-drone system, SentryCiv, aimed at providing non-military sectors with a scalable means of detecting and identifying drones near critical infrastructure.
The company says the system is designed for airports, utilities, data centers, stadiums, government facilities, correctional institutions and other high-risk sites where traditional military-grade defenses may be too costly or complex. SentryCiv adds what DroneShield calls a “non-emitting” layer of security, detecting drones without jamming or interfering with other communications.
The system links to the Sentry-C2 Civ command-and-control platform, which provides operators with alerts, threat prioritization, customizable geofenced zones and data logging. Detection is powered by the company’s DroneLocator technology and its RF Threat Detection-RFAI engine, which it says can identify more than 150 common drone models. The software is updated quarterly to expand the detection library and improve performance.
DroneShield positions SentryCiv as an adaptation of its existing defense and law enforcement technology for civilian environments. By focusing on detection rather than defeat, it is intended to integrate into existing security setups and provide early warning without the legal and operational complications associated with kinetic or jamming countermeasures.
The launch comes amid growing concern about unauthorized drone activity near critical infrastructure. Industry analysts have noted a steady increase in both hobbyist incursions and deliberate drone misuse, raising operational and safety risks.
While SentryCiv’s exact detection range and technical specifications were not disclosed, the company says its approach is intended to be cost-effective and accessible to operators with limited specialized training.
