DroneShield has announced a partnership with Robin Radar Systems aimed at expanding radar interoperability within its counter-UAS ecosystem.
The agreement will integrate Robin Radar’s 3D radar technology into DroneShield’s broader sensor architecture, providing additional detection options for customers across defense, critical infrastructure and public safety sectors.
Robin Radar Systems is known for its radar platforms designed to detect and track small airborne objects, including drones, across complex environments. The integration is intended to support wider-area surveillance and improve tracking capabilities within layered counter-drone deployments.
Expanding sensor integration options
The partnership reflects DroneShield’s approach of building an open, interoperable sensor ecosystem rather than relying on a single, closed system. By incorporating third-party technologies, the company is aiming to offer operators greater flexibility in selecting sensors suited to specific operational requirements.
Radar systems are typically used to provide persistent detection over wide areas and in conditions where other sensors may be limited, such as low visibility or complex terrain.
At the center of DroneShield’s architecture is its DroneSentry-C2 command-and-control system, which combines inputs from multiple sensors into a single operational picture.
“Operators need systems that adapt to their mission, not the other way around,” said Angus Bean, DroneShield’s Chief Product Officer. “By partnering with Robin Radar Systems and expanding our sensor marketplace, we give customers more freedom to design their airspace security architecture, while SensorFusionAI ensures that all sensor inputs are fused into insights that support decisive action.”
Focus on layered counter-UAS capability
The integration of radar into a broader sensor suite reflects the increasing emphasis on layered counter-UAS approaches, where multiple detection methods are combined to improve reliability and reduce false positives.
Robin Radar Systems said its technology is designed to integrate into wider security architectures, supporting coordinated airspace awareness.
“At Robin, we see ourselves as a new generation radar company – fast, adaptive and built for integration. Our technology is designed to deliver seamless performance within broader security architectures. We’re pleased to be partnering with DroneShield to combine our market-leading IRIS 3D radar with their C-UAS platform, enabling smarter, layered airspace protection worldwide,” said Marcel Verdonk, Robin Radar’s Chief Commercial Officer.
The partnership comes as demand grows for more adaptable counter-drone systems that can address increasingly complex aerial threats while integrating with existing defense and security infrastructure.
