DroneShield secures $8.2 million contract to supply handheld C-UAS systems

DroneShield has secured an $8.2 million contract to supply handheld counter-drone systems and related support services to a Western military customer, the company announced.

The contract was awarded through an in-country reseller and includes portable counter-UAS system equipment, accessories, spare kits and ongoing software updates. DroneShield said the agreement builds on a relationship that has spanned more than seven years and has involved multiple programs, rather than representing a single standalone purchase.

Handheld counter-UAS systems have become an increasingly important capability for dismounted forces operating in contested and fast-moving environments. Unlike vehicle-mounted or fixed installations, portable systems allow troops to detect, identify and respond to drone threats at the in environments where access to layered air defense is often limited.

According to DroneShield, the award reflects broader shifts in defense procurement, including shorter acquisition timelines and increased demand for systems that can be updated through software to keep pace with evolving drone threats. The inclusion of ongoing software support suggests a focus on adaptability rather than fixed-capability solutions.

The contract adds to DroneShield’s expanding international footprint. Over the past two years, the company has delivered counter-drone systems to military and government customers across multiple regions as demand for portable airspace protection has grown.

In Ukraine, DroneShield has supplied handheld and fixed counter-UAS systems to support operations amid the widespread use of small drones on the battlefield. The company has publicly confirmed multiple deliveries to Ukrainian forces since 2024.
