DroneShield’s IRK receives C-UAS innovation award

DroneShield has received the Platinum Award for Innovation from Military and Aerospace Electronics for its Immediate Response Kit (IRK), a compact solution for drone detection and defeat. This recognition highlights the IRK’s impact on the defence and aerospace sector for its unique approach to addressing emerging security threats.

The IRK includes two primary components: the DroneGun Mk4, a handheld device designed to neutralise unauthorised drones, and the RfPatrol Mk2, which detects and locates drone signals in real time. Packaged in a portable case, the IRK offers military, law enforcement and infrastructure protection teams a practical tool for swift response to drone-related threats.

Designed for flexibility, the IRK can be body-worn, used on the ground or mounted in vehicles, adapting to various operational needs. Its components work quietly using omni-directional antennae with no intentional RF transmissions, and it runs on a NATO-standard battery for extended field performance. The system integrates easily with existing software, supporting standardised APIs and allowing users to control it quickly with straightforward, intuitive settings.

DroneShield CEO Matt McCrann commented:

“The IRK sets a new standard for portable drone defence, delivering operational flexibility and ease of use. We are proud of this innovation and appreciate the recognition of our team’s efforts to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”

The system has been developed amid a growing demand for effective counter-drone technology in response to increasing unauthorised drone activity, particularly in high-stakes environments where rapid intervention is critical.
