Last week, Edgesource released an informative whitepaper on the recently released AeroScope upgrade module to provide consumers with much-needed information for consideration.

The AeroScope is a comprehensive DJI-specific drone detection platform that rapidly identifies UAV communication links, gathering real-time information such as flight status, paths, and other information. This monitoring data stream helps users make an informed threat assessment of drone pilots and drone activities.

To recap, DJI pulled their popular AeroScope product from their website last year. This move followed rumors that the company would no longer manufacture the product.

In the latter part of 2023, the company introduced updated AeroScope firmware and dispatched hardware “upgrade modules” to their dealers for customer distribution.

This whitepaper presents an overview of security risks and considerations related to the AeroScope system, the upgrade module, and DJI drones. The document elaborates on the functionality of a DJI drone system and its interactions with AeroScope.

The whitepaper can be found on Edgesource’s website at the following: Edgesource AeroScope Whitepaper. The link can also be found at the bottom of this page. The paper was created in collaboration with Steve Tisseyre of Aerial Defence, Ltd., David Kovar of URSA, Inc., and Mario Behn of NATO NCIA.
