Elbit Systems has been awarded a contract worth about $120 million to deliver its Hermes 900 unmanned aerial system to an undisclosed international customer, the company announced this week.
The medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) platform will be configured for long-range maritime surveillance. While the buyer was not named, Elbit noted that the system is already in service with more than 20 customers worldwide since its introduction in 2011.
The Hermes 900 is the largest UAS in Elbit’s fleet and is designed for multi-role operations, including persistent intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions across land and sea domains.
The platform can carry multiple payloads simultaneously and is used by several armed forces for both military and homeland security applications.
The new deal highlights sustained demand for MALE-class drones as governments look to strengthen their surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities amid evolving security challenges.
Elbit said the latest award adds to the company’s record of exporting unmanned systems globally, particularly for maritime domain awareness missions.
According to Yoram Shmuely, General Manager of Elbit Systems Aerospace:
“We are proud to be selected once again to provide our Hermes 900 system to a valued international customer. This contract reflects the trust our customers place in our solutions and our commitment to delivering operational superiority,” he said.
“Elbit Systems is a global leader in unmanned aerial systems, and the continued demand for the Hermes 900 underscores our technological edge and operational experience in supporting complex missions across diverse environments.”
