Elbit Systems secures $60 million contract from NATO member

Elbit Systems has announced a $60 million contract to supply its multi-layered counter-UAS systems to a NATO member state in Europe. The contract is set to be completed over a three-year period, with many nations in Europe looking to advance counter UAS capabilities amid escalating aerial threats.

Under the agreement, Elbit Systems will deliver its ReDrone modular counter-UAS system, designed to detect, track, and neutralize hostile unmanned aerial systems.

The ReDrone system integrates multiple technologies including DAiR Radar for wide-area detection, SIGINT sensors to identify drone communications, and electronic warfare countermeasures designed to disrupt and neutralize threats. Additionally, it includes an electro-optical payload for enhanced situational awareness during both day and night operations.

The ReDrone system is designed to operate in both urban and rural environments and under varying weather conditions. It can simultaneously detect and neutralize multiple drones across various communication channels. The system also features stationary and mobile configurations, allowing it to adapt to different operational scenarios.

The use of drones in both military and civilian contexts has surged in recent years, raising concerns over the threats posed by unauthorized or hostile UAS. Counter-UAS technologies, such as the ReDrone system, are increasingly being adopted by militaries and governments to protect critical infrastructure and ensure airspace security.

Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW, commented:

“This contract, coming amid the rising threat of unmanned aerial systems, follows a series of contracts awarded to us in the C-UAS field. We are proud that another NATO member country has chosen our solution, further demonstrating the robustness and effectiveness of our system, built on our advanced capabilities in EW, SIGINT, radar and EO technologies.”

While the identity of the NATO member state remains undisclosed, the agreement highlights the importance of anti-drone technology in modern defense strategies.
