The FBI is preparing to more than double the capacity of its counter-drone training school at Redstone Arsenal as the agency expands training for federal, state and local law enforcement personnel responding to unmanned aircraft threats.

Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward visited the facility on Thursday to review its counter-UAS training capabilities and highlighted its role in preparing law enforcement agencies to respond to drones around major public events.

“That FBI facility is state-of-the-art,” Woodward said following the visit. “It’s amazing.”

The facility is approaching the end of its first year of operations, with Woodward saying its training capacity will increase significantly over the next year.

“We’re going to more than double the capacity in the next year,” he said.
