The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has released the UTM Field Test (UFT) Final Report.
The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Traffic Management (UTM) UFT played a crucial role in validating and field-testing the upcoming set of capabilities required by both the industry and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to facilitate UTM. The initiatives undertaken within the UFT project contributed significantly to advancing UTM closer to future implementations of operational UTM services. As a vital component, the UFT was established to sustain the collaborative efforts between the FAA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the industry in the ongoing development and maturation of UTM.
The FAA, NASA, and industry partners worked to demonstrate important capabilities during UFT,including:
• Capabilities proposed by standards, including strategic coordination.
• Enhancements to UTM functionalities (e.g., data correlation).
• Updated security management to secure UTM data exchanges.
• Concept elements such as authorized historical data queries.
