Federal Criminal Complaint of Bryant LeRay Henderson filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Fort Worth Division.
The probable cause information in the complaint details a May 4, 2022, incident at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) located in Forth Worth, Texas. The FMC is a Federal Bureau of Prisons federal correctional facility.
Attempt to deliver contraband
The complaint states that on May 4, 2022, at around 11:55 p.m., FMC staff observed a drone with a package hanging from the bottom of it operating over the prison facility. The drone crashed within the secure, fenced-in area of the facility.
The DJI Inspire 2 drone was carrying a package that contained tobacco, methamphetamine, THC, cell phones and accessories, and MP3 players with accessories.
The subsequent investigation into the incident was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Dallas Field Office- Fort Worth Resident Agency, the Bureau of Prisons Special Investigative Staff, and the Fort Worth Police Department. The agencies were assisted by the Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Dallas Police Department.
The investigation, detailed in the complaint, identified Bryant LeRay Henderson as the individual who flew the DJI Inspire 2 drone that crashed inside the facility.
Criminal Complaint
The complaint charged Henderson with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) and (b)(1)(C); Attempting to Provide Contraband in Prison in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1791(a)(1) and (b)(1); and Attempting to Serve as an Airman Without an Airman’s Certificate in violation of 49 U.S.C. § 46306(b)(7) and (c)(2).
In October 2022, Henderson pled guilty to a criminal information charging one count of attempt to provide contraband to a prisoner before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Northern District of Texas.
