General Cherry and Orqa to bring Ukrainian interceptors to NATO allies

Ukrainian defense technology firm General Cherry and Croatian drone manufacturer Orqa have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at expanding the development and production of counter-UAS systems in Europe.

The agreement brings together General Cherry’s operational experience, drawn from Ukraine’s use of interceptor drones, with Orqa’s manufacturing and engineering capabilities. The partnership will initially focus on interceptor drones, components and related counter-UAS systems, with plans to establish joint production facilities in both Croatia and Ukraine.

According to the companies, the collaboration is intended to make interceptor drone capabilities more widely available across allied nations while maintaining Ukraine’s domestic capacity. The effort reflects broader European interest in scaling locally produced counter-drone systems amid evolving security challenges.

“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for our company and Ukrainian defense-tech as a whole. We are launching a major and promising partnership with a company that brings over a decade of experience and leading expertise in the UAV industry. Our shared goal is clear: to help build a new architecture of European and global security,” said Yaroslav Gryshyn, co-founder of General Cherry. “Ukraine’s unique battlefield experience, combined with Orqa’s technological expertise, creates a powerful synergy. Together, we are ready to change the game.”

Srdjan Kovacevic, co-founder and CEO of Orqa, said the partnership would extend the reach of Ukrainian-developed capabilities:

“General Cherry’s real-world combat experience, combined with Orqa’s broad technical capabilities, creates a partnership with exceptional potential based on a trailblazing mutual manufacturing model. It is an important step forward for both parties and countries, enabling General Cherry’s highly effective interceptor drone capability to be available outside Ukraine for the first time.”

The first jointly produced systems are expected in the near future, though timelines and production volumes have not been disclosed.
