Hover launches a fully automated turret to counter drones

Hover has introduced a fully automated counter-drone turret designed to detect and neutralise fast-moving first-person view (FPV) drones. The system marks a transition in counter-UAS warfare, shifting from electronic warfare (EW) and jamming technologies to a kinetic approach.

Hover’s kinetic counter-drone system utilises advanced image recognition, LiDAR, and radar to detect and target FPV drones, including swarm attacks. By employing direct kinetic engagement to destroy UAS, this system tackles the limitations of traditional electronic warfare, which relies on signal jamming but struggles against RF frequency hopping and fibre-optic drone control.

Cameron Rowe, Founder of Hover, commented, “We built an automated Counter Drone Turret that works. The future of counter-drone warfare is not EW (Electronic Warfare or jamming) – it’s kinetic”. He continued, “Onboard compute, RF frequency hopping, and fibre-optic controlled drones mean that the only way to stop drones will be to destroy them. In tests, we were able to accurately detect and destroy fast-moving FPV drones.”

Engineered for both mobile and fixed platforms, Hover’s system effortlessly integrates with existing ISR frameworks, delivering a scalable solution for highly contested environments.
