At the Counter-UAS Middle East and Africa conference today in Amman, Jordan, Eng. Rateb Abu Al-Ragheb, Head of Sales & Business Strategy at the Jordan Design & Development Bureau (JODDB), spoke to attendees on “Advancing Local C-UAS Capabilities: JODDB Efforts for Safeguarding the AirSpace of Jordan and Allies.”
Eng. Rateb’s presentation highlighted Jordan’s proactive stance in countering the growing threat of UAS and missiles in a region where the counter-UAS discussion is advancing rapidly.
With Jordan facing increasing threats from hostile drones and cross-border smuggling operations, JODDB has emerged as a regional leader in indigenous aerial defense innovation.
“Jordan is facing a war against smuggling,” he said.“We are dropping these drones and we are dealing with them in cooperation with the Jordanian Armed Forces.”
Eng. Rateb outlined the Bureau’s development of advanced systems such as the Sky Storm and Signal Striker, designed for fixed and portable UAS detection and neutralization. These technologies have already proven effective in intercepting threats along Jordan’s borders and securing critical infrastructure.
Beyond operational success, JODDB’s strategy emphasizes local manufacturing, SME integration and talent development. By partnering with over 15 Jordanian enterprises and collaborating with universities, the Bureau is cultivating an ecosystem that reduces reliance on foreign suppliers and encourages the domestic development of counter-UAS technologies.
Looking ahead, JODDB is investing in next-generation capabilities, including AI-driven threat detection, counter-swarm solutions and integrated air defense systems.
Eng. Rateb reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to regional stability, positioning JODDB as a national asset and as a strategic partner for allied nations seeking effective, locally engineered counter-UAS solutions.
