Louisiana gives drone mitigation authority to local police

Teaser Copy HereLouisiana’s new “We Will Act” Act gives state and local police the authority to intercept and disable drones posing credible public-safety threats. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed the law on June 18, 2025, declaring it a first-of-its-kind measure in the U.S.

The law authorizes specially trained officers to deploy kinetic or non-kinetic countermeasures against UAS operating unlawfully near schools, large public events, critical infrastructure and other “high-risk” sites.
