MARSS has unveiled the Interceptor-SR (Short Range), an intelligent, cost-effective, and low-collateral damage alternative to countering hostile drones, addressing the rapidly evolving need for neutralization missions.

This innovative portable solution is deployable on the battlefield, capable of neutralizing class 1 drones at distances exceeding 1 kilometer. It provides mounted and dismounted infantry with the assurance of constant protection in an inherently safe manner, without the need for explosives or jet fuel.

The Mounted Infantry variant employs multiple Interceptor-SR launchers, which can be seamlessly integrated into various crewed or uncrewed vehicles. In conjunction with the NIDAR C2 and onboard sensors, serving as detectors, the Interceptor-SR is deployed with a simple button press. Once in the air, the Interceptor-SR autonomously tracks the hostile UAV using an onboard thermal sensor and eliminates it using kinetic energy.

This system provides a cutting-edge mobile Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) that covers the entire spectrum from detection to neutralization, with a cost-per-engagement significantly more favorable than conventional weapon systems.

For Dismounted Infantry, another version is currently under development and designed around a reusable, lightweight shoulder launcher equipped with an integrated thermal sight for locating and targeting hostile drones during deployment. After launch, the operator maintains control to confirm a successful engagement or abort if necessary.

The Interceptor-SR fully complies with the UK MoD SAPIENT standard, ensuring interoperability with other battlefield sensors and networks that adhere to this standard.

Stephen Scott, Head of R&D for Defence at MARSS, commented: “We developed the Interceptor-SR in direct response to customer demand. When we launched the Interceptor at the inaugural World Defense Show last year, many customers commented on the need for a portable organic CUAS solution that mounted and dismounted infantry could successfully use to defeat Class 1 threats at shorter ranges”.
