MatrixSpace has announced a new integration with Dell Technologies to enhance its AI-enabled radar systems through edge computing. The collaboration combines MatrixSpace’s 360 Radar with Dell’s NativeEdge platform, aiming to improve real-time situational awareness for public safety applications and smart city infrastructure.
The MatrixSpace 360 Radar uses edge processing to detect and classify objects, such as drones and aircraft, in low-altitude airspace. By eliminating the need for cloud-based data processing, the system is designed to operate with lower latency and greater reliability in field conditions. Dell’s NativeEdge software provides the infrastructure to manage and secure these edge deployments at scale.
“Our vision at MatrixSpace has always centered on the edge,” said Dr. Nihar Nanda, Head of AI Products at MatrixSpace. “We needed a partner that could deliver the performance and reliability required for critical, real-time applications. Dell NativeEdge met those needs.”

The edge-based architecture supports 360-degree coverage and long-range detection. Systems are also networkable, enabling continuous monitoring across broader areas. The technology is currently being used by the Palm Springs Police Department in California, where it supports the agency’s “Drone as First Responder” program.
That initiative uses remotely piloted drones to respond to emergency incidents before officers arrive, assisting with tasks such as locating suspects or conducting search-and-rescue operations.
MatrixSpace’s partnership with Dell is positioned within a broader trend of moving AI processing closer to where data is generated. Edge computing is increasingly seen as a necessary component for public safety, drone operations and future air mobility systems, particularly where connectivity or cloud reliance is a concern.
While the integration represents a further demonstration of the potential benefits of drones in security and urban operations, questions around broader deployment, privacy and regulatory oversight of drone and radar technologies remain active topics in the industry.
