Mehler Protection has unveiled SCILT NAVAL at SMM 2026, introducing an active counter-UAV system designed to protect individual vessels against drone threats at close and very close range.
The system was developed as a final layer of defense for situations where larger air defense systems may no longer be able to respond effectively. The company said recent conflicts have demonstrated how small, low-cost drones deployed in large numbers can pose a threat to heavily armed warships.
SCILT NAVAL is intended to bridge the gap between passive protection and broader air defense systems. The system is designed for vessels operating in ports and confined waterways such as canals, as well as amphibious operations, landing craft and fixed maritime installations.
