The United States Central Command released a summary report its forensic analysis as part of the investigation into the Mercer Street drone attack. The oil tanker was attacked by multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones on July 29-30, 2021, near the coast of Oman.
A United States Navy (USN) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from the USS Ronald Reagan collected the components as part of a post-blast investigation into the incidents.
The laboratory analysis revealed that the components collected by USN EOD from Mercer Street were consistent with verified components of Iranian one-way attack UAVs. The Iranian UAVs are actively used by Iran and its proxies against coalition forces in the region, including targets in Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
The post-blast analysis completed and released as part of an August 6, 2021, press release by the United States Central Command is attached for reference.
