The Counter-UAS Middle East and Africa Conference opened today in Amman, Jordan, bringing together military leaders, government officials, industry representatives and academic experts to address the growing challenges posed by drones.

In his opening remarks, Miles Dixon, Managing Director of SAE Media Group and C-UAS Hub, emphasized that unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) represent both opportunity and risk.

“The threat from UAS is no longer theoretical. It is real, it is present and it demands collaboration across borders and across sectors,” he said.

The event is held under the patronage of Major General Yousef Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, which has supported the event alongside the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB).

Dixon noted Jordan’s longstanding role as a regional hub for security cooperation and highlighted the importance of international collaboration in advancing counter-drone technologies.

Over the two-day conference, attendees will hear from global experts, take part in strategic discussions and see demonstrations of the latest counter-UAS systems. Dixon also underlined the role of C-UAS Hub as a platform for sharing knowledge and fostering dialogue within the sector.

He concluded by thanking the Jordanian Armed Forces and Engineer Rateb Abu El-Raheb of JODDB for their support in organizing the conference, stressing that the relationships formed and insights gained during the event will be key to ensuring we are equipped to tackle the evolving drone threat.
