Nocturne Drones provides airspace security for major Berlin music event

Nocturne Security & Defense (NSD) provided drone detection and airspace management at this year’s Keinemusik Summer Open Air at Berlin’s former Tempelhof Airport, an event that drew more than 60,000 attendees.

The company deployed a multi-layered drone detection system incorporating multiple sensor types and a mobile control center, enabling Berlin police and private security teams to receive real-time situational data throughout the event.

According to NSD, the operation formed part of a growing emphasis on integrating counter-drone measures into event security frameworks amid heightened concerns over unauthorized drone activity.

“Especially in the current security situation, the integration of a drone defense concept into the overall security concept for events is of crucial importance,” said Jens Hillenkötter, CEO of Nocturne Drones.

Hillenkötter added that the technical and regulatory complexities of airspace security, such as securing flight permissions and coordinating with multiple authorities, require specialized expertise and experience.

Nocturne Security & Defense, a division of Nocturne Drones, provides drone detection, monitoring and mitigation capabilities for large-scale public events and critical infrastructure sites. The company says its mobile systems and control centers are designed for rapid deployment and coordination with local law enforcement agencies.
