Nocturne Security & Defense has completed the first successful test of its new drone defense technology, ATOMZA (Active Tactical Optical Mitigation for Zone Awareness).
Developed by Nocturne Security & Defense in collaboration with Nocturne Special Projects, the system incorporates an innovative Photonic Tracking Module (PTM), an automated LED-based tracking solution designed to detect, track, and visualize drones over long distances.
ATOMZA is intended for both civilian and military applications. It uses targeted, high-intensity light beams to make drones visible in the night sky and monitor their movements. The system’s powerful light source can interfere with or temporarily disable the optical sensors of many drones. Additionally, it can impair a pilot’s vision, making visual navigation difficult and preventing the capture or transmission of usable image data.
By combining detection with sensory interference, ATOMZA offers an effective and non-invasive approach to drone defense. It is particularly suited for securing sensitive areas and protecting events from unauthorized recording or espionage.
Jens Hillenkötter, CEO of Nocturne Drones, stated:
“The current situation in particular calls for fast, pragmatic, and scalable solutions that meet the practical realities of today. That is exactly what we have developed with our ATOMZA anti-drone security system, and it is ready for immediate use.”
As a “soft mitigation measure,” ATOMZA is not classified as a traditional drone defense system, allowing civilian operators to deploy it – a key advantage in security-sensitive but non-sovereign environments.
