QinetiQ secures $41 million US Army contract for C-UAS support

QinetiQ US has been awarded a $41 million, three-year task order to provide software and technology integration support for the U.S. Army’s counter-UAS efforts. The contract, issued under the Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) C5ISR Center, aims to bolster the Army’s ability to detect, track and respond to growing drone threats across a range of operational environments.

Under the task order, QinetiQ US will deliver technical and software engineering expertise to support the development, testing, deployment and training of C-UAS systems. The scope of work includes supporting platforms at fixed installations, on vehicles and in mobile deployment configurations, suggesting a focus on interoperability and flexibility across Army units and missions.

The project is expected to address a broad range of integration and system development needs, particularly as small drone threats evolve in sophistication and scale. QinetiQ US will contribute its experience in sensor technology, systems engineering, and data fusion, all of which are core to the layered counter-UAS architecture being developed by the Army and other service branches.

“This task order reinforces QinetiQ US’ role as a trusted technology partner in countering the rapidly evolving UAS threat landscape that challenges our warfighters,” said Jonathan Riksen, executive vice president and general manager of QinetiQ US’ National & Global Security Solutions.

“By developing advanced sensor technologies and data fusion capabilities for counter-UAS programs, we’re providing essential detection and tracking systems that form critical links in the counter-UAS kill chain.”

QinetiQ US’ contribution is expected to focus heavily on sensor integration and data fusion – the technical backbone for early warning, threat classification and coordinated response decisions in counter-drone operations. These functions are considered vital within the Department of Defense’s layered approach to C-UAS, which integrates multiple sensors and effectors across command and control networks.

The DEVCOM C5ISR Center is responsible for research and development of command, control, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance technologies. This task order indicates continued alignment between Army modernization priorities and industry capabilities in high-threat, technology-driven domains like counter-UAS.
