Quantum Systems, a leading German-Ukrainian provider of unmanned aerial intelligence solutions, announced yesterday a strategic cooperation and investment agreement with the Ukrainian military robotics company, Frontline. This milestone represents a major advancement in strengthening ties within the Euro-Ukrainian defence manufacturing landscape.
This partnership aims to integrate Frontline’s C-UAS technology into Quantum Systems’ unmanned aerial platforms, therefore becoming part of the Quantum Systems Vector AI reconnaissance drone, as well as other drones within the Family of Systems. The agreement was formalised by Quantum Systems Co-CEO Sven Kruck and the Managing Director of Quantum Systems Ukraine, Oleksandr Berezhnyi, and by Frontline CEO Yevhenii Tretiak and CTO Pavlo Kosolapkin, who signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 9 April.
The signing ceremony, chaired by Herman Smetanin, Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, and representatives from the German Embassy in Ukraine, marked a significant step towards strengthening defence ties. “The signing of the Memorandum with a Ukrainian company is another step toward deepening the integration of the German company into Ukraine’s defence industry,” noted Minister Smetanin. He went on to express his gratitude to Quantum Systems for their commitment to cooperation and for the tangible results already achieved: “Our collaboration significantly strengthens the defence sector through the introduction of cutting-edge technologies and the enhancement of existing systems. I am pleased that Ukraine’s defence industry has such a strong and consistent partner. Our partnership is mutually beneficial and already delivering tangible results. I am convinced this will serve as an incentive for other defence companies around the world to come work in Ukraine, in cooperation with our enterprises,” Smetanin stated.
Oleksandr Berezhny, Managing Director of Quantum Systems Ukraine, also commented, “our cooperation with Frontline is a strategic leap forward, not just technologically, but industrially”. He continued, “as a German-Ukrainian company, we are proud to invest in and integrate with Ukraine’s top MilTech innovators. This is about building systems in Ukraine, for Ukraine — and for the future of European defence.”
Through its local subsidiary, Quantum Systems LLC, which operates as a fully Ukrainian company, this strategic investment expands Quantum Systems’ presence in Ukraine. As part of its long-term strategy, Quantum Systems is focusing on increasing local production, creating jobs, and integrating with Ukrainian defence institutions and innovators.
Founded in August 2023 by four Ukrainians, Frontline is a Ukrainian defence technology company. Since 2014, its founders have been developing a range of robotic solutions for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which have been successfully deployed and are currently in use. The company is now focused on creating a network of interconnected aerial and ground robots, designed to provide unmanned superiority across a specific tactical area extending up to 15 km deep.
Yevhenii Tretiak, CEO Frontline said, “we are excited to join forces with Quantum Systems and bring our technologies to a broader operational framework (…) This partnership is a powerful vote of confidence in Ukraine’s defense industry — and in our ability to deliver world-class capabilities that are built for the realities of modern warfare.”
