Rheinmetall and Anduril Industries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Eurosatory in Paris, one of the world’s premier defense and security trade shows. Through this collaboration, Rheinmetall and Anduril will jointly design, develop, and produce new layered Counter-small Unmanned Aerial System (C-sUAS) air defense systems, initially focusing on European markets.
These C-sUAS systems will integrate Rheinmetall’s Skymaster command and control system and high-power guns with Anduril’s Sentry Tower, Wisp sensors, and Anvil autonomous interceptor, which are open, modular, and scalable hardware components. By combining the unique strengths of both companies, the partnership aims to deliver an unparalleled layered C-sUAS solution. The MoU seeks to leverage the complementary expertise of these two leading firms.
“This cooperation will showcase the most innovative C-sUAS system – combining the strength of Rheinmetall military capabilities and the cutting-edge development speed of Anduril. I am absolutely confident that this combination will address the future needs of our clients and that we shall bring the right solution at the right time on the market,” said Oliver Dürr, CEO of Rheinmetall Air Defence AG.
Greg Kausner, Anduril’s SVP of Global Defence commented “The pace of warfare is accelerating at the speed of technology development. Global defence forces must face a rapidly evolving set of threats from both emerging unmanned systems and legacy manned platforms. Air defence systems require a layered approach that is flexible, adaptable and rapidly deployable. Anduril’s partnership with Rheinmetall will bring an innovative, software-defined and hardware enabled C-sUAS system to our customers to ensure they stay one step ahead of the drone threat.”
Rheinmetall has been delivering high-power air defense guns and systems worldwide, offering unparalleled firepower for over a century. Anduril, a global defense technology company, has developed an expanding range of low-cost autonomous weapons systems, all powered by its AI-enabled, interoperable Lattice software platform.
This cooperation will enable both companies to achieve their strategic ambition of jointly developing and implementing a comprehensive approach that integrates a wide array of sensors and effectors. This includes a mix of diverse hard-kill and non-lethal effectors, gun missiles, and state-of-the-art active and passive detection sensors. The system will significantly enhance survivability and provide new strategic and operational advantages.
