Israeli robotics company Robotican has unveiled a new configuration of its ROOSTER hybrid drone system that incorporates a precision-guided warhead, turning the platform into a loitering munition designed for use in confined spaces.
The ROOSTER, which can both roll on the ground and fly, has been adapted to carry payloads of up to 300 grams. The company says this allows the system to integrate a small warhead alongside other mission-specific equipment, enabling engagement inside buildings, tunnels and other restricted environments.
The updated system is supported by artificial intelligence-based object detection, tracking and locking functions, with multi-layered safety mechanisms designed to prevent accidental activation. Robotican stated that the design is intended to provide precise targeting while limiting collateral damage.
Previously fielded in reconnaissance, rescue and inspection roles, the ROOSTER’s new configuration expands its potential use to include neutralizing threats during urban warfare, subterranean operations and hostage rescue missions. The system remains lightweight and designed for single-operator deployment, according to the company.
Robotican emphasized the modular nature of the platform, which allows forces to tailor the drone for intelligence gathering or strike missions depending on operational requirements.
