Saab UK has delivered Giraffe 1X radar systems to the Royal Air Force (RAF) to support counter-UAS operations and strengthen protection against the growing threat posed by drones.
The procurement responds to an operational requirement and follows collaboration between the RAF and Saab focused on capability enhancements and operational experience developed over recent years. Saab said the relationship enabled the two organizations to respond to growing demand for counter-drone capabilities.
The delivery followed an urgent operational requirement, with Saab saying it was able to mobilize resources from across its global organization while drawing on its UK manufacturing and support capabilities.
