Sentrycs, a developer of protocol-based counter-drone systems, has announced the integration of its cyber over RF technology into Rafael’s Drone Dome, a widely deployed counter-UAS system.
Drone Dome, produced by Israel-based Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, is a modular system designed to detect, track and neutralize drones using radar, RF sensors, electro-optical systems and jamming technologies. It has been operational in multiple countries for military and security use.
The addition of Sentrycs’ technology allows the system to directly interact with drones via their communication protocols. According to the announcement, this integration enables real-time identification of drones and their operators, even when frequency-hopping or modified signal formats are used. The system does not rely on signal libraries and is intended to work dynamically against unfamiliar drone models.
Unlike conventional layered counter-UAS setups, the cyber over RF approach treats detection as part of the response process, streamlining the timeline between identifying and mitigating a threat. When an unauthorized drone is detected, the system can take control of it and guide it to a designated landing zone, avoiding the use of jamming or kinetic countermeasures.
Sentrycs and Rafael both emphasize the benefit of minimizing false alarms, maintaining safe operations for authorized drones and reducing unintended interference with nearby systems. The technology is described as suitable for use in complex airspace environments, including military bases, critical infrastructure and law enforcement operations.
Sentrycs systems are currently operational in over 20 countries. Drone Dome is already deployed globally and is marketed as a flexible, upgradeable platform.
